the famous Chinese doctor Hua Tuo checking up on a young boy, seated
below pine trees. Artist colophon, signature and mark Zhang Xihuang on
the reverse.

18th century.
Carved from bamboo section, the brush pot depicts a scholar seated next
to an outdoor rock ledge, beneath pine trees with mountain view, holding
a book in his hand. The brush pot retains natural grain and colors.
